Oil Sands
Fueling the Future or Fueling Controversy
The U.S Energy Information Administration projects global crude demand to grow from 83 million barrels per day in 2004 to 118 million barrels per day in 2030, an increase of 35 million barrels per day.
To meet global demand for oil, the industry is looking in nontraditional places like the oil sands of Alberta, Canada that hold the second largest deposit of hydrocarbons on earth. The oil sands have captured the attention of energy companies worldwide, which are now investing billions of dollars to develop this vast resource.
Given the polarizing potential of the oil sands debate, Fleishman-Hillard (FH) , a leading international public relations firm, conducted a study to determine the current public perceptions of the oil sands and their future development. The findings are designed to help the industry engage stakeholders and address the critical issues necessary to bring this important resource to the market.
